History

Ferona has been selling metallurgical products on the Czech and Slovak market for almost 200 years.

In 1829, L. G. Bondy established a hardware wholesale store in Prague, which became the FERRA stock company in 1919. After many years, when the company transformed and merged with other companies, 'Ferona, národní podnik, Praha' was established in 1972. In early 1990s the state-owned company became a stock corporation, Ferona, a. s., with a daughter company, Ferona Slovakia, a.s., based in Slovakia.

During the privatization, which took place in the year 1995, Ferona a.s. became a private company, owned mainly by the top management. Ten years later, in 2004, 100% of the company shares were purchased by Steel Investments Group, a.s..

Like many other companies, Ferona a.s has been subject to large-scale restructuring. For a detailed organization chart, please visit the corresponding section of our website.

In the year 2000, the original nine subsidiaries were replaced with three sales and logistics divisions focusing on the sale and distribution of goods and services.
